Revitatlizing Downtown Webinar--Session 1
3/11/2010
The first session of the Revitalizing Wisconsin’s Downtowns webinar conference series will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, March 11 at the Monroe Fire Department Training Room, 1110 18th Avenue (just off the Historic Square).  Community leaders involved in downtown development are invited to attend this free session in Monroe or register to attend remotely at a full series or per session fee.

The series is focused on topics that are of specific interest to Wisconsin downtown leaders and that lend themselves to further dialogue and peer-learning at the local level. State and national experts will conduct online presentations (webinars) and provide a set of web-based resources to participants. Follow-up discussions among participants at each site and via web-based postings will be encouraged.

The first session is on Thursday, March 11; David Milder will be presenting information on Shopping Downtown and the “Deliberate Consumer.”  David Milder is a renowned expert on downtown revitalization and development. This session will explore the effect that the recent recession had on American spending habits. It will offer some approaches for retailers and downtown organizations as they adapt to the “new normal” in consumer behavior.
The series is presented by The University of Wisconsin-Extension in cooperation with the Wisconsin Downtown Action Council and the Wisconsin Main Street Program. The Green County site is sponsored by Green County UW Extension, Monroe Main Street Program and Monroe Chamber of Commerce. This series also qualifies as Certification Maintenance credit for members of the American Planners Association Professional Institute (AICP).
